But I can still build a lean monster of a machine and am mostly concerned about making old apps work since there are many in use that have stopped development but not been replaced by anything comparable or better either. Generally what I will be asking about is about current "best practices" and HOW the operating systems NOW handle certain issues. Unfortunatey I've never been a programmer or scripting artist but sure know my way around a CMD window. Thanks!!

I myself love the learning processes fiddling around with Windows 10 Pro - on the other hand I have lots of respect for that system and I do not want to do something that results in a not-working system.
