My name's Doug and I have been working with Windows OS since 3.1, mostly for better. I've taken apart desktops and laptops to troubleshoot or replace parts, and helped my son build a gaming PC. I mess around with a lot of utilities to try and optimize various things, and regularly break my OS trying to do what standard configurations don't do. I use DJ software with a controller (Traktor, for better or worse) and have gotten into lots of trouble turning off services and programs that draw resources. Lately, I've been experimenting with symbolic links and junctions, as a gesture to preserving my SSD. I'm also trying to sort out a reasonable backup + archiving methodology to create robust redundancy and save myself agita re-installing Windows and restoring images from the past that are missing all the files I created recently.

Welcome to Ten Forums grshpr57. A lot of members here use Macrium Reflect for imaging their systems. The free version is all you need. You may want to look through this tutorial. Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

    Hi to everyone,
I am brand new and this is my first post.
I found this forum as I was trying to fix computer problems that I have no clue about and after
doing an online search the answers I was looking for, came from posters in this Windows 10 Forum, and I want to extend a huge thank you to the guys who made that post and also the quick fix downloads that solved my problems. His name is Shawn Brink, and 2 others I can't remember. You guys have amazing brains in the computer areas and I owe you heaps.
    Thanks again.

    Cheers Kev
