    Better late than never?

    Greetings,
Well I finally got around to upgrading my Win8.1 laptop to Win10. Actually I tried to upgrade it, but after several attempts and much googling for help I gave up and did a fresh install, which turned out to be the better way to go. Got rid of a lot of crapware I didn't need anymore. I learned stuff and discovered things along the way, including this site, so here I am. It's a really nice site with tons of info. And I still have another 8.1 laptop to upgrade. I've been using Win10 for less than a year on my work laptop but I don't mess around with that, whereas my personal one is my testbed and software 'lab rat' you could say. Been working on computers before most people had one (any Pick/Reality techs out there?) and still enjoy playing with them and learning new things. Looking forward to catching up on Win10, and soon Win11 too... Cheers!

Welcome to Ten Forums TwelveTone. Clean install is the way I ended up installing W10 on an old W7 lappy. As you say cleaning it of all the crap it has built up over the years is the way to go. Gives it a new lease of life.
