Just signed on to 10 forum

    Hello,

I am mmmbear in the WindowsSeven forum. It should have said 'mommabear' but I had a couple of typos I didn't notice in time due to a worn out keyboard or brain freeze, whichever came first. I never got around to requesting a change.

I just ordered a refurbished notebook so I have no specs yet other than it is loaded with Windows 10-S. My intention was to reformat it and delve into Linux (again!) because eventually 7 is just going to stop working even for someone like myself who has modest needs in my computer. I may still do that but since this notebook already has Windows 10, I might as well take a look at it. I understand that I can make some tweaks to get it to look like Windows 7. I'd do the same on Linux. So here I am to find out what I can with Windows 10.

    Thanks!

Welcome across the road from Seven Forums, you'll find a lot of familiar names here.

Yes, there are ways to make W10 look like W7, but first you'll have to switch out of S mode so that you can install them. Fortunately that's relatively easy (and free).

Turning off S was the first thing I googled.
