I only recently became aware of TenForums, having mostly used the MS community forums.
I'm a long-time computer guy, having started with the early IBM vacuum tube/relay mainframes. I should have bought MS or Dell stock instead of the first IBM PC with ms dos OR instead of my first PC's Limited computer. Oh, well.
Now I usually buy manufactured desktops and then modify them to suit my purposes. Not being a gamer, my main issue isn't lightning speed, but storage for lots of data.

I was deeply in the World of Windows from 1994 on Windows 3.1 until 2012, when Windows 8 was released. For reasons unrelated to Windows, I left the World of Windows in 2012. Today, I have returned to the World of Windows. In retrospect, my exit from the World of Windows was timed perfectly (c.f., the Windows 8 Debacle™). Unfortunately, my return to the World of Windows is long overdue, because once Windows 8.1 was released, Windows was usable again. That was in August of 2013, so I am working with a nine-year hole in my brain that has absolutely no information about Windows whatsoever.

I am very shocked by the lack of vigor and commitment shown by the Microsoft enforcers who are here to protect us from our thoughts. I am expecting to be vaporized any second, but I see a lot of misinformation going on around here.

The only information I know is correct is misinformation.

I am 28 years old, and my pronouns are for you to decide.

    Welcome to Ten Forums Carla

You'll find no 'Microsoft enforcers' here, just look at the footnote to this page....

The only enforcement here is the site rules, we do not condone software piracy, so don't even ask/talk about it.

Well, that's a big gap to fill. Where to start?

But if you stuck with it as far as Windows 7 then you're half way there. Don't be thrown by the dramatically different looking User Interface in Windows 10. Underneath that the Operating System is a direct development from Windows NT, through XP, Vista, and 7. There's a lot that you may already know that's still relevant. You may not know where to look for it though in such an unfamiliar UI. That's where you'll find the Tutorials section helpful - or just ask, we're a friendly bunch and don't bite

Welcome to Ten Forums Carla. Bree is correct. If you used W7 then you have the basis of W10. The major changes are in the Settings App which partially replaces Control Panel and the Start Menu which is a leftover of the W8 debacle but works well.
