Start menu search hangs if right-click, Run as Admin is used.

If I use the start menu search bar for items such as Notepad, CMD etc. and do right click run as administrator Nothing happens. If I simply double click then it launches ok, i have ticked the run as administrator in the file / shortcut properties, so double clicking does run as administrator. Just wonder why right click run as administrator does nothing at all.

have ran DISM and SFC, SFC found and corrected some errors, also did a repair install successfully

    thanks

Very strange. Have a look at this => How to Run an App as Administrator in Windows 10

It does give a few alternative methods.

    I hope this helps.

Just wondering- have you perhaps turned UAC off? (Haven't tried doing that as a test, but turning it off has unexpected consequences).

If it is off, change it to one of the other settings.

There are alternative ways to run as admin but wanted to know why it doesn’t work this way and UAC is not turned off

    thanks

Ok, try creating a new user for test purposes, log in as that user, and see if that works then.

That suggests you have a tweak in place or 3rd party program affecting all accounts, as you've already done an in-place upgrade repair install.

    What happens in Safe Mode?

Have you used any form of so-called 'privacy' tools to block telemetry?

Do you have any relevant Group Policies set?
