Hi, let me guess- have you just applied the latest update,
KB5003214 Windows 10 2004 19041.1023, 20H2 19042.1023, 21H1 19043.1023
This is why the forum prompts you thus:
Is the rest of your system tray/notification area still present?
Otherwise:
Do you have a recent System Restore point you can use?
History (so often not given by posters) - when did this happen? What happened before it went missing? Any updates or program changes?
Thanks for the replies,in fact I do give my Windows version details before I write the post and having now
looked at some other posts with this problem it looks like it is the latest update I installed that seems to be the problem.
I think I`ll just leave it until they issue a fix.
It is a preview update- I simply uninstalled it. Problem gone - for now.
Just to clarify, is the whole of the right end of the taskbar blank- or is it only the clock that's missing?
See discussion here:
System Tray seems broken after Windows Update
Yes it was the whole of the right hand missing not just the clock.I have since opened
News and Interest, clicked on "show icon only"and everything came back to normal,or so I hoped.
I always shut down the computer each night but when I booted up this morning, everything was still
there but the text and icons are that small they`re difficult to read.
Try right-clicking TaskBar, choose TaskBar Settings, and check to make sure Use Small TaskBar Buttons is OFF.
Provided I enable the News and Interests icon, my system tray looks normal, thankfully. (all disappears, otherwise).
Issue being widely reported:

Don't install KB5003214 if you want to avoid taskbar errors
In taskbar settings,Small taskbar button is turned off.
Sounds as though your best bet then is to follow dalchina's lead in #2 above, go into Programs and Features > View Installed Updates, and uninstall KB5003214.
That should fix you until MS gets its act together on that update.
Please let us know.
