PC will not go to sleep Win10 - 20H2

    Hi,

My windows 10 pc will not go to sleep. I went to Device Mgr, uncheck Allow this device to turn on the pc, from every USB device and the network card. Tried adjusting times for when the monitor goes to sleep, created my custom sleep profile. Which worked once and only once. Even went to CMD as the admin type -the last wake, but keeps saying power button and -requests which nothing comes up.

Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

You can try these steps but nothing is guaranteed for sleep problems.

1 Reinstall your display driver and check for any updated Bios.

2 Try to isolate causes by trying Safe mode and, as FreeBooter says, Clean boot procedures.

3 Run this command [in a cmd or PS window] to check that S3 Sleep is enabled in your system.
    Code:
    powercfg -a

4 See what Event viewer tells you is happening when you try to S3 Sleep

    Best of luck,

1.) When I did run this cmd of powercfg-a The following sleep states are available on this system: Standby S3
2.) Booting to safe mode- wanted about 10-15 minutes for pc to sleep. No luck
3.) Messed with Normal Startup/Diagnostic/Selective Startup. Unchecked all

Updated bios about a month or so ago, updated lastest Nvidia Driver.

Have you tried this to see what is preventing sleep:
    > powercfg /requests

For example I started a program called Insomnia.exe which prevents sleep. This is shown as follows.

Type in perfmon /report in the Windows Search box and hit enter. The Performance Manager will automatically run a report and diagnose issues that are impacting your PC. Luckily for you, it will also recommend solutions for each problem found.

Hi Keith, welcome to Ten Forums.

Please search & run winver from your taskbar, then post results and update your 'My Computer details'.

Also, please post results from powercfg /a, there's more details besides 'S3 showing as available' that could be helpful. Thanks

Have you reinstalled the display adapter since the problem started?
