Dell XPS One 2710 Black Screen

I recently purchased this PC off CL in hopes of repairing it. I am hoping you all can help me.

When I press the power button it lights up and you can hear fans whirring. Although the screen is totally blank black you can see the LCD back light turn on. And that is it. It will sit there running like that. No boot screen. No Dell logo. No POST info on the screen. Nothing. When I try to shut it off with the power button I must push it in and hold it for 5 - 10 seconds before it will shut down.

I have read several posts over in the Dell forum with this same issue. Many stating to replace the HDD or clear CMOS or Replace the OS.

My basic question is - Shouldn't I see something on the screen? At the most basic shouldn't I at least see a boot screen? This would make me want to look at the video first.

I would appreciate some pointers on how to begin.

First shot, replaced the CMOS battery. We see a lot of strange things with bad batteries on the Dell forums.
The external power "brick" has caused a lot of problems too. The AIO's are basically a laptop with desktop keyboard and display.

Yep..I have done that. and reset the CMOS. No cigar. Reading more it appears this is a known issue with a corrupted BIOS. I have seen references to resetting the Real Time Clock. The power button procedure does not work and reading further it appears this is an older model that uses a motherboard jumper for this function. Problem is I cannot find documentation as to the location of the RTC Reset jumper.

Plug an External monitor into the onboard HDMI port and see if it comes up. If not, the chances are great that the video chip has failed. which I believe is soldered onto the motherboard.

Corrupted BIOS and the motherboard is "bricked" on older models (Dell does have recovery options on newer models).

Can you verify the model. I find a "2310" but no "2710".
Definitely a Dell XPS One 2710

Yes, a lot of reports of potentially corrupted bios'

Tried that. No cigar. I am going to hook up another computer in to the HDMI Input and see what I get. Stay tuned

Checked "Parts People" (Dell OEM parts) and very little for the XPS One 2710 (no motherboard).

Some motherboards available thru eBay. Also, some forum posts state replacing the bios chip corrected the problem. Just wanted to narrow it down to be sure this is the case.

Don't want to put a bunch into an old PC like this. If all else fails I will try to use it as a monitor.

Nope. This shows service warranty expired in 2013, so no home there.
Update- I plugged a Chromebox in via the HDMI In. I get an image although one half the screen looks OK. The other is not. This same graphics issue is present without the Chromebox when the screen pop-up dialog "no HDMI signal present"
