    "Save As"

I have small problem I can't figure out. I have a Text file on notepad in my main documents folder in file explorer. When I open it and click on file then click on "Save As" desktop does not open as the place I want to send it. The contents of my main documents folder opens instead. How do I make "Desktop" default location for "Save As"? Thanks.

I don't think you can. What you CAN do is "browse" to the Desktop for the first text file. After that it should remember your choice until you choose to save it somewhere else, or until you run a program like... CCleaner or the like.

That's what I thought but it doesn't seem to remember.

Then add your Desktop to your File explorer, Quick access so you can get there easily in the SaveAs dialog.

By the way, your experience is not normal behaviour. You should not need to do anything special to have SaveAs remember its last-used path.
    - Open and SaveAs remember their own last-used paths and are not forced to use the same paths as each other.
    - Open and SaveAs need to be set individually for each application. You cannot just set up, say, Notepad and expect, say, WordPad to use the same folders.

I don't know then. I only use notepad (have no Office products installed), and text files seem to automatically save to the Desktop.

Thank you anyway. It's really no big deal. Thank you.

I have Norton 360 controlling everything. "Manage settings" on virus & threat protection settings is not available.

In my case, 'save as' defaults to the original location when an existing file is opened from Explorer with 'open with' or from inside Notepad, and only remembers the 'last saved place' for newly created files. Mind you, I am not sure it is consistent that way.
