News and interests is wrong language!

    Hi all

I wonder if any of you guys can help me out.
My 'News and interests' in the Taskbar is showing in Swedish in stead of English.
It has been like this for a couple of weeks and can't recall what may have changed the language suddenly.
The weather app shows the correct city in the UK, but not the language and all the news is in Swedish also.
Can't figure out how to change this - all my settings relate to English/UK and this is the only thing that is affected.
Many thanks for any help to solve this.
    Cheers.

Hello Steve, and welcome to Ten Forums.

Check at this link below from clicking on News and Interests > Settings (3 dots at top right) > Language and content, and make sure Language and content is set to the correct language.

Thanks for a quick reply Brink.
I've been down that root before. It shows in Swedish, I change to English, but this has no effect on the 'News and interests' in the Taskbar.
My News and Interests isn't the same as yours. It has one column in the middle.
I'm using a Local Account and not a MS Account.

As a test, restart the computer to see if may apply afterwards. This will force the language setting change to apply.

    Steve,

It just changed (synced) for me automatically after awhile when testing. Sign out/in or restart will force it to update the language instantly though.

It looks like you are not signed in to the MSN site below with your Microsoft account in Microsoft Edge to be able to change the setting below.

I'm never signed in to a MS account and it was always in English a couple of weeks ago - since it became available to use.
As I wrote earlier up the thread I'm using a Local Account and always have used a LA..

However, I have logged into a MS account via the MSN page, changed language to English, restarted and the language change reverts back to Swedish and logs me out!

Thanks for your replies and help.

After more testing, it doesn't matter if you are signed in with a Microsoft account or not.

The key is the link must be opened in Microsoft Edge to change the setting like below. It will not work using any other browser.

MSN | Outlook, Office, Skype, Bing, Breaking News, and Latest Videos

    Bingo!

I had been trying out a program called Edgedefletor to force URLs that ordinarily would open in Edge to open in my default Firefox. Ties in with the time scale of the wrong language being shown.

GitHub - da2x/EdgeDeflector: A tiny helper application to force Windows 10 to use your preferred web browser instead of ignoring the setting to promote Microsoft Edge. Only runs for a microsecond when needed.

As soon as I uninstalled it, the MSN page opened in Edge, and I was able to change the language to English.
On a restart, Swedish was still showing, but opening/closing the app a few times forced English to be shown.

Many thanks again for your input. It is very much appreciated.
Keep up the good work. Best regards from England - Steve England!
