after reset unable to have PDF and ODT files display as preview

Now, I have all that enabled and still pdf does not immediately show thumbnails, while png is.



I do recall that I actually did something so that pdf would show the icon only, but for now it escapes me. I'll post when I remember.

I am certain I managed to get those pesky things to display as stated... despite taking photos of installed programs and down the entire length of the start? menu, no joy yet but, I'll check out the system properties again.

I had it set so PDF, DOC, and ODTs would give thumbnail images of the text and the same would happen in preview panes

I only get a thumbnail if I tell it to save with a thumbnail...

checked all for appearance - restart - no luck - even went advanced and set background instead of programs

I know a solution exists .................

I promise I had mine prior to reset so that pdfs, docs and odts all presented as image thumbnails and gave previews in WExp and bigger when I'd hover cursor over thumbnail..... seems like that was an additional piece of software for the hover over and I got rid of it because I seldom used it.

I do not have Office installed

Going to peek at Open Office and see it I overlooked a setting.......... if so, I don't think it will address pdf and docs although maybe?

I struggled with it for a little bit prior to reset and all I recall is when I found the solution, I was exhausted and on the verge of a stroke and did not document HOW but, the snipped screen shot posted lets me know it really happened

I'm stumped......

but you do see from the pre-reset image in #12 that and more is a possible reality?

I did not have to pay for software although I may have had to install something...........suffering CRS

shame on me for not documenting how I managed

I get thumbnails and previews with OpenOffice 4.1.10...
