    Receive "How do you want to open this file" on startup part 2


    I started receiving the message and pop-up "How do you want to open this file?" every time I start my computer a while back now. I have found the file that is causing this. The file is located in C://USERS see the attached image. It is just an archive, no extension at all. I have opened it and found that it has nothing inside. I can delete it and after a few days it reappears. It seems to be created by the system. I am using windows 10 Home Single language version 20H2

    You have to find where this file is being opened.
    - You can try to find it on MSConfig - startup
    - also look on Task Scheduler

    Lenovo installs a great deal of essentially useless stuff on its computers. Look in Settings > Apps & Features, and you'll find at least one Lenovo, and probably more. You can Google something like "Lenovo software safe to delete" and you'll get a lot of information. So long as the Lenovo software is on the computer, the troublesome file is likely to be regenerated the next time the software does a self-check. I have two Lenovo computers running just now, and neither of them has ANY Lenovo software on it. But check around for some info before you go on a dragon-killing expedition.

    Thanks Guys will check it out when I get the time. Rather busy right now. Company I work for is closing down so got tons to do. I was thinking when things cool down do a complete new install on this beast. That way get rid of any junk that may be lurking in the darkness.
