Non-square images no longer show thumbnails in Small Icons or Details
Perry Mason in the case of the missing small thumbnail icons...
Non-square images no longer show thumbnails in Small Icons or Details.
Although it might appear to you my text here is a copy of the below link to a post at "answers".Microsoft.com by David H, I can assure you it is not but I have the identical problem and I was surprised to find someone else had to deal with the same thing
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...5-bb8625deacc5
Unfortunately, in Microsoft's despotic "help" culture, the threat is locked after one post by a "NicknamSam' who commented to the poster that he has the same issue and I cannot contact the author, perhaps because it points out to a newly created bug in Windows, courtesy endless updates.
In previous versions I was able to see small thumbnails of image files either in the view by "small icon", "details" or "list" view mode. Now only selective files have a thumbnail icon (See screenshots below)
What puzzles me was that some thumbnail icons would show but most of the others not. Until I stumbled across the aforementioned post by David H. I then realize that indeed it has to do if the actual image is rectangular or square. Checking I realized that the ones that show are indeed only from square images.
About a year ago this all still worked jpg, png, bmp, pdf, etc., until Microsoft quite apparently in the need of yet another update contributed once again dozens of new bugs.
Has anyone come across this issue and perhaps found where that bug is buried?
