Greys out when trying snipping tool...

[Win10 Version 20H2 (OS Bild)19042.928; Lenovo Laptop; Outlook/Word 2016; Google Chrome...(is there more?)].

Hello, I'm trying to take a screenshot of the language preferences in my taskbar, but when I open it and bring out the snipping tool, it greys out. Is there a work around to do this?

I have 2 unneeded languages interfering in my work. First I tried googling for hours and didn't find any results so I came here where I can describe more accurately my problem. Otherwise, this snipping tool takes proper screenshots wherever the subject happens to be in. It wont take it when I have to open the subject.

P.S. So sorry I just saw I didn't say why I wanted the screenshot - because some in the internet asked to see the problem before they can tell me how to delete these 2 languages.

Use the Snipping tool option to Delay for 5 seconds then you can get the thing you want onscreen and wait for it to take the screenshot.

PS I imagine that the thing you are trying to screenshot is the Language bar. It concerns keyboard language settings. I am out-of-date on this subject but here's a link to the main tutorial - and be sure to look at the list of Related tutorials at the end of it.

How snipping tool works, when it Greys Out, you hold down your left mouse button and draw a box around what Snip. Or if you have a Delay timed it will automatically take a snip of the whole page. Then save that How to Use the Snipping Tool on Windows: Take Screenshots

Click on the language preference on the taskbar then press the Windows key + PRT SC keys. Check if in clipboard be pressing WIn key + V.

Open Paint 3D and use the paste icon. You can then use the snipping tool or any other tool to take a screenshot however you like.

Yes, it`s supposed to look like that, just make your snip and save.

Thank you so much Denis for the links. Since what I really need is to delete 2 annoying languages, I chose your 2nd link: "Input Indicator and Language Bar - Turn On or Off in Windows 10". I read it carefully and it shows in 6 options how to delete some languages. I chose Option 1 (which is what I needed in the first place) but since my computer has been updated yesterday I don’t find the words indicated on each step such as “Personalization”, “Taskbar”, etc.. I typed them above where it says “Find a Setting” but didn’t them….

Oh how sad not to be a savvy computer person! I thank you and all others here who contributed with their savviness. 😊 Adela

P.S. I think I found it now but I’m afraid doesn’t apply to deleting a language…it mentions “Language Indicator” and if I turn it off...how do I know it's the language i wanted to turn off? Perhaps it wasn’t the Option 1 which I needed? Oh I’m so confused! Please forgive me.

Do the illustrations at the start of that tutorial confirm that this is the thing you are trying to get rid of?

Please post a screenshot of Settings so that your problem with

You should be able to see the Personalization choice as soon as you open Settings.

Do note that the tutorial deals with the indicator that appears and not with languages themselves.
- You are not deleting anything. You are merely supressing that indicator.
- If, once you have dealt with the indicator problem, you want to delete a language itself then look in the list of Related tutorials at the end of the tutorial.

Hi @Adela. To get rid of the language preference list or removing one of them there are two ways. Using the Region setting and Language setting. The Region setting is just for the keyboard setting if no language pack is installed.
In the Language section there is no language showing to be able to be removed but if I add English US for the keyboard layout (Region) then I can remove the English US keyboard that removes it from the language preference list.






The other method that works is to install the language pack of the one's you want to remove and then uninstall them. That's the long way around it but still works.
