Computer won't boot after deleting data partition

    I have three drives.
    Disk 0: Samsung 870 EVO 2.5" SATA SSD (1TB)
Disk 1: WD Blue 3.5" SATA HD (1TB)
Disk 2: WD Blue 3.5" SATA HD (1TB)

Computer won't boot after deleting data partition-2021_04_30_22_47_571.jpg

    I have a dual-boot:
    • Windows 10 Pro 20H2 on C:\ on Disk 0
    • Windows 7 Home on K:\ on Disk 2

If I delete partition F:\ on Disk 0 I can no longer boot the computer. The boot aborts with an error message.
I did not write down the error description. I can't recreate the problem without making the computer unbootable again.
The SSD is a clone of a hard drive it replaced. I had to clone the hard drive again to fix the problem.
Note the original boot hard drive and the SSD were the only drives connected during the clone.
Here is the output from Bcdedit

Can you post a full diskmanger display with all the details I cant see from the small photo. Your using logical paritions that went out with the arc. It could be that it effected the contaer paritition or it could just have changed the drive letters

    The logs were unremarkable.
There were 2 unexpected shutdows and restarts.
    The BIOS is old.

Does the BIOS only have a Legacy option or is there a UEFI option?

I still have a usable computer with an MBR 1.5TB drive with a Primary Partition of 500GB and an Extended Partition of just under 1TB with 2 Logical drives in it. The computer can't go larger than 2GB as the BIOS is not EFI [have already tested that].

As for having 2 or more physical drives, there's been a number of postings on forums about having only one drive attached when installing Win10. I know that with RAID removing 1 drive will break the boot, had it happen to me.

    I have Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 (rev. 1.0)

The Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 (rev. 1.0, 1.1, 1.2) had hybrid EFI technology for 3TB HDD support.
The option in the BIOS was:
    EFI CD/DVD Boot Option
Set this item to EFI if you want to install the operating system to a hard drive larger than 2.2 TB. Make sure the operating system to be installed supports booting from a GPT partition, such as Windows 7 64-bit and Windows Server 2003 64-bit. Auto lets the BIOS automatically configure this setting depending on the hard drive you install. (Default: Auto)

The Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 (rev. 3.0) was the first with UEFI.

I updated the BIOS from F6 to F9. There are a couple newer BIOS but they are Beta.

I am not sure if it is important but the problem partition I had deleted has at least one folder that is shared on the network. Would that cause a boot error if they were deleted?

    The computer has Acronis.
Can you perform trial and error steps and then restore an image?

Consider detaching all cables or removing all drives except disk 0 (windows 10 disk drive) > confirm a normal boot
Delete F: > post any error message or code
Run startup repair > post srttrail.txt

Consider a manual (command line) or Macrium boot repair.

I just installed the SSD Tuesday. I have the old hard drive in an external enclosure.

I have already cloned the hard drive to the SSD three times this week. No other drives were connected during the cloning. After the clone the computer booted normally with only the SSD.

First I have to back up the SSD with Acronis to the external backup hard drive. Then I will delete F:\ and see what happens. If it will not boot then I will restore it with Acronis from the external backup hard drive.

This will all take some time so it will some time tomorrow before I get done with all of this.

BTW, how do I do: Run startup repair > post srttrail.txt
