How do I choose which monitor new desktop icons appear on?

I know it has been a while since this thread was updated, but I would just like to remark that after getting it sorted, icons still began to appear on my second monitor after a while. I do not know what has caused them to do so, perhaps it is the restarting of my computer or something.

Either way, I seem to have found a better solution to this already: my icons on my desktop are auto-arranged and sorted. If I right-click the desktop and push the item labelled Refresh, the icons on my second monitor immediately jump into the correct locations on my first monitor.
