After sluggish sleep wake up, apps don't load and it doesn't shutdown?

It is a desktop. I click on apps and nothing happens. I click on restart no response. I click on shutdown no response. I click on logout and it takes a long time with a spinning circle. I just pull the plug. Is this a common issue or I need to fix something?

Hello, let's run through the usual basics.
    1. Make and model of your PC please. Disk(s) - HDD? SSD?
    - see My computers below my post for comparison
    - helps to make this info easily accessible.
    2. Please post a link to your PCs/manufacturer's drivers page.
    3. About how old is it?

History: (so very often omitted by posters)
    - how long have you had this problem?
    - what led to it?

Windows build number: you were prompted thus by the forum (so we don't have to keep asking):

    Basic checks:
    Please check your disk(s):
Hard Disk Sentinel (trial) is great. Appraisal of each right on its GUI.

    If ok then run
    chkdsk c: /scan
from an admin command or Powershell prompt
Report just the result at the end.

I just pull the plug. Is this a common issue or I need to fix something?
This is just what you should not have to do.
It means changes in the registry may not be implemented: updates which require restarts may well corrupt your system.

There's a risk your disk may be corrupted.

    Thank you for your reply.

Are you saying this was a 1-off occurrence?

Hard Disk Sentinel 'right on its GUI' - this makes it easy for readers: like this:

It's in my profile but anyway:
Point is, you put a non-clickable link there which means someone trying to get basic data quickly has to do work and spend time. Help is offered on a voluntary basis. Thanks.

If it's only happened once, there's not really anything to look at.. you can check your event log around that time, but unless it's repeatable, beyond basic checks nothing to do.

It happened again but it was after my wife left the Fishdom app on Bluestacks running for a long time.

Would need to see what your task manager is showing when this is happening- i.e. what resources are being used.
Some exact evidence is needed- which is going to be hard to find.

There may be some log or report- or not. It depends what's happening.
    Have a look at
    - your Reliability History- explore any red x's related to the time this happened.
    - try downloading and running Appcrashview (free).
    - have a look at your event log around that time (Fulleventlogview (free) gives a simpler linear list to explore).

As this is occasional it's going to be very hard to track down- could be as you indicate related to some odd software bug in a 3rd party program rather than the O/S..

    You could also try
