Why can't I find newly captured screenshots anymore?

I can't find any newly captured screenshots. They used to be stored in "screenshots," but I can't find any of the ones I just took. I took one ten times in a row and not one of them appeared in the "screenshots" photo. So where are my screenshots?

Did you take the screenshots and then saved to a folder?

Hold down the Windows Key and press V, should show if still there. I've had more than a dozen there, probably could be more, click any one and will open Snip & Sketch then allow to Save [floppy icon].

1 Did you take them using the WinKey-PrntScrn combination?

2 Did the screen dim as you took them? If not, the screenshots were not taken.

3 In File explorer, which folder does pasting this into the address bar [then pressing the Enter key] take you?
    Code:
    shell:screenshots
That's the folder that Windows ought to be saving them in.

4 Are you logged into your normal user account? Enter this in a cmd/PS window to check.
    Code:
    whoami
It reports in the format ComputerName\UserName

If you sign in with a Microsoft account, you may find they are being saved to OneDrive....

Do you get the notification still? If so look closely at it. My screenshots were always automatically saved to "Screenshots" in OneDrive, but an update to either Windows or Dropbox changed it to Dropbox's folder. I had to uncheck Dropbox's option to save screenshots, and uncheck then recheck OneDrive's option. Now they are back to "Screenshots" in OneDrive.

    I actually figured this out

I actually figured out how to fix this almost as soon as I posted this. This video (Windows 10 Screenshots Are Not Being Saved in Pictures Folder FIX - YouTube) taught me how to reprogram windows to save screenshots in the screenshot folder. Now it's working. I still have no idea where the other ones went. They're not in any folder I checked. I guess they just disappeared into the ether...

Whenever I capture a screenshot with + Prt Sc, in additon to auto-saving to the Screenshots folder, the .png ifle also appears in the Quick Access Recent Files group. But I never see anyone menton looking for the file there & then selecting Open file location.

Do screenshots show up there for other users who have Recent Files enabled?
