Windowed mode and loss of focus

    Hi

I've got an issue with a game in windowed mode. Whenever I click off the window, and say go into my browser, the sound is muted and when I go back to the game window it works again.

I can see from looking at task manager, than when you select bring to the front with the app, the sound comes back again. So losing focus on the window triggers it.

I've tried using Deskpins to keep the game window on top, that doesn't work. I've tried alt tabbing to the browser, that doesn't solve anything either.

There are no settings on the game to stop this from happening. There are other games i play in windowed mode where this isn't an issue.

I'm wondering if there is anything i can do to stop the sound being muted?

    Thanks

    Windows version 20H2(OS Build 19042.928)

Hi, two possible things happening here:
    a. It's the game that mutes or reduces the sound- not Windows.
Compare e.g. playing music with VLC player.

Ideally there would be some option available - but you say there isn't.

    b. Some have said that if they are using Dolby e.g. packaged with Realtek, that the Dolby setting for the program changes when its window loses focus.

    E.g.

Sound is different when app is focused (Windows) - The Spotify Community
