Cannot find specified file error — no solution works

Windows Version 10.0.19042 Build 19042

On April 13th, apparently there were a lot of Windows updates (most regarding Office 2010). The following day I started the error message on virtually all of my software "Cannot find specified file."

I know this is a common issue but it's the first time I've ever encountered it. I have tried every troubleshooting step in every forum, YouTube tutorial, and Google search I could find and nothing worked. The last one is from this page: [FIXED] The System Cannot Find the File Specified in Windows 10 Error

In that tutorial, the "Mark partition as active" prevented my computer from booting and I had to repair it to get it working again. The last step "Verify the System Log File to Find the Problematic Driver File" didn't have the "cannot find file" in the folder it said to locate and move.

Finally, I performed a clean install of Windows 10 and the issue persists. Now, I have a computer I can't do any work on (artwork, music production, mixing, mastering, etc) and I'm totally miffed as to how to fix this problem. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

I haven't installed anything new on the computer. I use all of this software on a daily basis because of the nature of my work. It was working fine on April 13th. The next morning — I started getting the error message.

When I looked up the updates on the computer — I saw a bunch of Windows updates the night before and most were Office updates but there were several others that weren't.

I'll create another profile to see if that fixes the problem though I don't why it would but you never know.

After the clean install, I installed Winrar, Chrome, Malwarebytes and then the audio mastering software, which I usually do last after a clean install but didn't want to waste my time by installing all of my other software.

I created a new user profile and installed the software and the problem persists.

I booted into safe mode, then tried to load the file and the problem still persists.

I did try moving all my music files that I'm currently working on back to the main drive (from backup) and attempted to access them that way to no effect.

When I say I'm stumped — I really mean it.

HOLY CRAP! It appears the problem is just with certain files and what the !@#$ I just tried loading other files into the software and it works.

Earlier I played these files to ensure they weren't corrupt and they played just fine. I just couldn't load them to edit them, master them or anything else like I usually do. In other words, the files are not corrupt but Windows does not like them. Thankfully, I have a DJ service and can go back and download them again. If the problem persists, I'll just breakdown and purchase them to see if that solves the issue.

Sorry to have wasted your time on this (and mine) even though technically it's not resolved. At least knowing it's limited to specific files allows me to workaround the issue.
