Do you have any older Images? restore that one and try without those programs...

Can you list the programs in Start up? Or post a picture of task manager - Start up tab

Guess clean install is a solution for you, as suggested above by Callender. Then make a system Image (with serious backup program) and update it every time you play with those tools

I make a full windows image backup every day that a pc in running. Unfortunately I only keep images for three days. At 76, my brain is not as sharp as it should be. I just lost track of my older desktop until it was to late to go back to where the permission problem did not exist. I will have to correct that glitch and keep an older, GOOD image.

I too agree with a clean install solution as Callender suggested but it didn't hurt anything to try what you have also very wisely suggested.
Again, thank you much for your very helpful assistance! I have definitely learned a lot from your suggestions, so hopefully I can remember what i have learned.

nothing suspicious there. Maybe check also with Autoruns.

I also have Bitdefender Total Security 2020 installed, but it does not show in Task Manager startup (?????)

I use Autoruns more often than Task Manager and there are no yellow lines there. There are quite a few "pinkish" lines but nothing in them related to security and nothing that I am alarmed about -- mostly dll info, codecs, etc.
