    How do I preserve original folder/file timestamp from zip file?


    When I have a zip archive, how do I extract its contents, so that the extracted folders and files are timestamped reflecting when the originals were created? Not the date/time the extracted structure was created on the target PC, but the dates/times the original folders and files were created.

    Specifically I wonder this for when I download from a cloud drive, like google or Office. Multiple files download as a zip, and I'd like the files - photos especially - to be on my machine with the dates of original creation.

    Hi, just done this for you by drag 'n drop from a zipped folder open in 7-zip to a folder:
    How do I preserve original folder/file timestamp from zip file?-1.png

    Modified & created dates seem the same to me...

    Thanks, and yes, that did it for me. I also found that if I clicked "unblock" on the properties of the zipped file, this too did the trick in extracting, at least with 7-Zip. I can't screenshot because the unblock goes away once checked, but here's an illustration I found online:
