When it first happened, I noticed that my hard drive space was getting low, so I uninstalled an application to free up space. But that wasn't the issue apparently.

First what version of windows are you using? If windows 10 I had similar issues the last couple days, come to find out its the new feature of windows 10 called storage pool. I have 3 storage cards. All are 2TB cards, 2 are SSD and one HDD. On the HDD I only had 400 some GB used but the warning I was getting was saying My storage was used up and reboots starting happening. Im not saying this is your issue just throwing in an opinion to check. I had to turn of storage pooling and delete the third drive it was using. Pain and that pooling crap is garbage.
