    Black box on screen

    Windows: 10 Home
    Version: 2004
    Installed on: 14/11/2020
    OS Build: 19041.867

I have a black box which looks a little like a command prompt box that has appeared on my screen (As shown in attached picture) that won't go away.

It is sits over everything on my desktop and programs I open. I can click on the icons on my desktop below but as I can't see them I don't know what they are and it makes using a program hard.

If I run task manager it says nothing is running.

I can't click on it at all and it can't be resized or moved.

I took the pic with my phone as when I did a screenshot it doesn't show up on the pic.

Any Ideas on how to get rid of it?

    Hi,

    You can do this:

Run SFC Command in Windows 10

    If not work, try this:

Use DISM to Repair Windows 10 Image

    Thanks Luarpc

Just as I was about to try it and my wife showed me something she found on YouTube and it fixed it.

Turns out I must have bumped a button on the bottom of the screen and it turned something on.

I've been trying to get rid of it for hours now makes me feel stupid! HAHA

    Thanks again,

Yeah I know I start cleaning it up then end up saving more files to it quickly and never get back to it.

You and me too, you should see how my desk top can look, it does get messy but every month or so I do a spring clean, save what I want to another HD, delete the rest, make my desktop all tidy again.

And I want a duel screen set up!

Yes 32 inches of screen seems to make much more room for unwanted icons and files on the desktop.

I want dual screens but 64 inches on the desk is to much!

And I'm considering going the other direction, buying a new monitor to replace a 19" on the workbench and smaller than a 27" on a desk. The only reason is the 27" ASUS has 4 different inputs, VGA, DVI, DisplayPort and HDMI, quite useful when folks break the display panel on their Notebooks.

If you are desk top untidy like me, can't have enough screen desktop.

But one of our daughters and hubby, ( all Amazon warehouse return deals ), recently purchased identical 1080P Asus 27inch monitors, great price, cost about £95 each and a dual screen stand.

Before, the work desk looked like a battle zone, now, it looks a really tidy, neat setup, the matching screens helps atheistically and the dual stand, things look very smart.

I will at some time maybe go down that road, can't make up my mind to either go for a dual desk or clamp stand.

For now I'm just getting use to the luxury of having a 27in monitor, ( Acer ) having been using a laptop for the last couple of years.

I have the same problem but cannot find what I activated or how, do you know which button it is? and what it opens?
