I apologize for having used a special character last year, which misled Paul Black.

In ✱.vbs, is a special character, which functions as the filename.

In *.vbs, * is a CMD symbol, which functions as a wildcard.

In my original code, the commands will be written into this specific VBScript file ✱.vbs, which is different from *.vbs, which means any VBScript file.
