Lost file after "cut". Never pasted.

    Hello,
Not sure where to post this but I am going bonkers with what should be an easy fix.
I cut a file to move to another folder, thought I hit the paste but not sure now, and poof.... the file does not exist. I have been manually backing up my files so I do not have a recent restore date and my file history has been off (don't have an external back drive hooked up). This was an ods spreadsheet file that always saved as excel. Not in trash, searched all folders by scrolling and using the search bar... many times!!!
Tried using the command prompt to no avail (from google suggestions).
Does anyone know how I can get back a cut and paste file that was never pasted please?
    Thank, Carson

In the future, use Copy and Paste, that way you don`t accidentally lose the original folder or file while pasting.

    Check the Clipboard - Win+V

Check your temp folder - invoke %temp% in a Run box

Cut does not remove the original file until after it is pasted. Therefore, you must have pasted it somewhere. It may not be in the location you thought, but it should still be somewhere on your drive.

Everything utility or FileSeek utility can help find that "hidden" file.

In the future when that happens immediately use CRTL-Z (undo).
