    No 'New Folder' Option

I have a new win10 installation. Maybe four hours old. It offers no 'new folder' option in windows explorer on a right click.

i googled and did the regedit fix and now i get the option on a right click of the desktop.

But still not on a right click in explorer.

But if i open a folder 'in a new window' in explorer then I can right click and get the option and create a new folder.

version the latest. four hours ago. v2004 it says, build 19041.867

    any help for this?

thanks. that was good as far as it went but it didn't go all the way.
    there's something more wrong.
i don't get that little arrow head on the C: drive listing in explorer and thus in the left pane i can't open the list of folders on it.

And right clicking, even with this new menu, i don't get an option to make a new folder.

i'll attach a screenshot of what i get on this (broken) machine and what i get on another (normal) machine.

you know I just put this install up a few hours ago and then it was reported that my partitions were not in the 'recommended' order or something.

d'you think that'd be enough to give rise to all this kind of thing and i ought to scrap this install and reformat the drive, start again?

p.s. and if i did that would i have to go around with kyhi or something and a partition manager or will a win10 64 boot usb fix up the disk before installing - like is there that option ( I forget the options since doing it a few hours ago).

It never did. And it's context dependent. I.e. depends what and where you click.

    Rt click, New, New Folder

A clean install means you normally delete any and all partitions of your existing Windows installation (see tutorial around step 13/14 for a clean install) - when you are prompted during the installation procedure.

That's 4 for a typical UEFI installation to delete, fewer for MBR.

Yep, that was it. i redid it all after deleting the partitions and now i've got this install which appears to have no problems.

Thanks for all the help. :)

Now's the time- before you start installing 2000 programs and your favourite tweaks to start using disk imaging regularly and routinely - e.g. Macrium Reflect (free) + large enough external storage. Then you can often recover, save yourself form clean installs, have a full backup, and restore to a new disk if needed..

    I agree with dalchina.

Macrium Reflect [free edition] is often recommended in this forum for making system images. Other utilities are available but this one is so commonplace that you can get plenty of help for it.

Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect - TenForumsTutorials
    Macrium Software Macrium Reflect Free
    Macrium USB - TenForums
Macrium Reflect KnowledgeBase - user guide [version-independent link]

It can also make bootable system images. This facility is called viBoot and it requires Win10 Pro.
    Macrium viBoot - Macrium KB
Macrium viBoot - Create Virtual Machine using Macrium Image - TenForumsTutorials

While you're thinking about backups, consider Backup and Restore Device Drivers - TenForumsTutorials as well.

    All the best,
