There us a file folder named OneDrive under C:\users\my name. I've no idea where if came from unless it was very early in my use of W10 when I explored OneDrive. I can't remove it because I keep getting messages about administrative privileges. Can someone tell me what the folder is all about? I plan to give OneDrive another try and would like to understand what I am looking at.

OneDrive comes with Windows 10, MS doesn't give you a choice whther you want it or not. It's automatically there, in-your-face-, like lots of other Microsoft/Windows bloatware.
If you're not going to use it, uninstall the OneDrive program.
If you logon on to Windows 10 with an MS account, make sure OneDrive hasn't already synch'd your files and uploaded them to the/your OneDrive account.
So, ....
Close OneDrive (make sure it's closed in the SysTray as well. Then, go to Task Manager and stop OneDrive from starting at start-up.
Reboot. Go to your OneDrive account (outlook.com website, MS account login, top LH corner to access outlook.com facilities). If any files are there in OneDrive, make sure they're only backups (copies), or download them to your device.
Then uninstall OneDrive using Control Panel > Programs and features.
The folder should auto be removed, if not do it manually if you've followed the above steps to protect/retrieve your data.. MS may warn you of all the doom and gloom, fire, flood and pestilence, etc etc if you delete it ... Ignore.
OK, I use Office 365 or whatever it is called these days. No mention of OneDrive anywhere.

OneDrive is also part of the Windows 10 installation. Anyway, you don't have to use it. And it can also be removed (hidden) or disabled....OneDrive is included in Microsoft 365 and Office 365 plans, in SharePoint plans, and can also be purchased as a standalone plan.
