Taskbar & Start Menu not Transparent

    Hi

    Windows 10

Last night all was well with my computer but for the last few days I have had an update waiting to be done as I figured it would be a big one and it was took several hours to restart and upgrade. This is an older system so it could be an older update that was catching the system up being I just restored it so the update might be an older update unsure. In past I see others seem to have had the same issue following an update.

Anyways I got logged back in after the update finished and I have noticed that the taskbar and start menu and also the alerts panel and such are no longer transparent. It's like looking at Windows 95 or 98 where it's a grey solid color taskbar.

I googled it and did 2 of the suggestions and no good.

    1. checked the color settings to see if transparent was turned on and it was in fact turned on I turned it off then back on and that didn't change anything
    2. also added the following registry code to the registry for explorer and all that seemed to do is slightly change the color but not enough to make the taskbar and such transparent like it was before the update meaning it sort of match's the color of the wallpaper so it would blend in somewhat before the update not it just makes the grey very slightly transparent but not a matching color like it use to.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Advanced

    New > DWORD (32-bit) Value

    Value set to 1

    Code:
    UseOLEDTaskbarTransparency
Is there any way to get these things back to normal transparency like they were before the update? Wasn't any custom transparency was just the default transparency that windows has had for awhile now where the transparency would try and best match the background image.

    Thanks
    Dave

Go to "Settings", "Personalization", click "Colors" in the left column, then in the "Choose your color" box, select "Custom", in the "Choose your default Windows mode" box, check "Dark", then scroll down and check the box marked "Start, taskbar and action center".
