How can I get .PDF files to preview in Windows Explorer & Outlook?

    Hello

    1. How do I get Window10's File Explorer to show a preview of PDF files in the right hand pane?
It just says "No preview available", whereas previews are visible for all my other types of file (e.g. .JPG and .XLSX etc)

    2. Also in my Outlook ("for Microseoft 365 MSO (16.0.13801.20240) 32 bit" ) when I open an email that has PDFs attached to it, it just stays:
"This file cannot be previewed because there is no preview installed for it"

I have tried installing and re-installing Adobe Acrobat DC (64 bit).
I then tried both SumatraPDF 64bit and SumatraPDF 32 bit.

    This is driving me nuts!

I have the free Adobe Acrobat Reader installed and no issue with seeing preview in File Explorer [renamed from the earlier Windows Explorer]. The .pdf extension is associated with AAR in Settings but the default was for Edge. Don't know about your Outlook, I'm still on Office 2013 and Office 2010.

Berton - To get clear, are you simply saying that you don't have the same problem?
If so I'm not sure what that proves, or how it's supposed to help fix my problem.

Just pointing out that File Association settings are involved in lots of things, Preview is one. Most program installations make the appropriate settings but if they don't work as desired it's then up to the user to make the outcome desired.

Nice try, but makes no difference.

Adobe reader -> Edit -> Preferences -> Enable PDF thumbnail preview in Windows explorer
