Direct link to a Microsoft page that lists the requirements: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-11 I'd thought that the TPM 2.0 requirement was an error, but I was mistaken. Yikes.

(My two current desktops have an AMD X570 chipset, so I can use a firmware TPM. Not sure about my Intel based Lenovo laptop.)
    Thanks for the link

My main PC is not TPM compliant, so no Windows 11 for me if there's no workaround to bypass this requirement in released W11 version.

As posted by others, you can run "tpm.msc" to check for TPM compliance on your PC.

It lacks a socket for a hardware TPM? What's its motherboard?

It's a 5+ year old Dell desktop. No mention of TPM in BIOS and no TPM sockets on the motherboard

Upgrade to Windows 11 will be free:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wind...in#question-11

"It’s free. But only Windows 10 PCs that are running the most current version of Windows 10 and meet the minimum hardware specifications will be able to upgrade. You can check to see if you have the latest updates for Windows 10 in Settings/Windows Update."

@ICIT2LOL ...... you'll be happy with that Hopefully your PC meets W11 requirements.

TPM 2.2 most likely, check BIOS for TPM enabling.

You can click on the link under "Check for compatibility"
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-11
and install the "PC Health Check" app and run it . If it says your PC is good for Windows 11, you're set.

If it says your PC can't run Windows 11, there are further things to try before concluding it really can't like checking your BIOS to see if TPM is enabled if supported. Apparently that PC Health Check app is buggy too from what I read.

Hiyya Steve well my main laptop is set to go but my Ivy Bridge main desktop build I did some years ago is not which is a real disappointment. So it looks like the Ivy Bridge is going to have to keep 10 as it's OS as I have no idea why as I am not that savvy to understand what that TPM stuff is all about but at least I have until 2025 for the old girl and I am not sure of what to check in the BIOS for whatever.
That presentation was for me a bit of a sales spiel as I do not run touch screen things or am interested in gaming etc plus having to shell out a large amount soon I don't think I shall be able to buy a new desktop in the near future. Maybe I might have to try out Linux again on the Ivy Bridge when support for 10 ends

Personally I think MS have made things so complicated now it certainly seems that way to me as an ordinary everyday user for emails etc I am just not interested in the new widgets and bells and whistles to be honest with you.

    @ICIT2LOL
    Hi John,
Windows 10 will be supported through October 2025, we have time to keep using it.

Both my newer PCs don't support Windows 11, so I'll be using Windows 10 unless something changes or I decide to buy a new PC, which won't be anytime soon.

At least your laptop can do Windows 11 free if you choose to try it
