I am fooling with it as well - in a VM. Has anybody figured out how to "activate" it ....
Same way you activate any install of W10. Either install it on a machine (physical or virtual) that has an existing digital licence, or activate it with a valid key.

I already had a Hyper-V VM with a digital licence for W10 Pro, so I clean installed W11 Pro to that and skipped entering a key when asked. It activated from the existing digital licence.

Now I am still concerned about what is going to happen when 11 comes along I am not that savvy and I see all the talk about widgets and icons etc etc but what I want to know is that how is Windows 11 going to be rolled out.
Is it going to be a fully paid version or just an upgrade download from Microsoft and will I have to get my hard drives swapped out and how do I transfer some of my data (not much ) from the old 10 installation to the 11 version.
I am only asking because it has become so confusing as to what is going to happen.

Why would you have to swap out drives and transfer data? For that matter, why upgrade at all? Win10 will be supported for (at least) 4 more years, so you do not need to make any snap decisions.

The actual mechanics of the upgrade are a mystery as of now. I'm guessing an optional upgrade. If it does happen to be a real paid-for upgrade, you won't have to do it. But then, recall the push to get people onto Win10 back in the day - MS got pretty aggressive about pushing it. But we just don't know how it's going to go. Don't worry about it over much. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Well I haven't got my hands on Windows 11 yet and change is inevitable, so I will wait to make any judgements as we don't know how released W11 will be vs the leaked version and don't know if it will be a free upgrade on not .

Hiyya Steve I did post this a little earlier in the thread but this might give you and idea of what it might look like. This fellow I follow on YouTube and I find he is quite a good source of computer info. See what you think.

Ah, the "what you guys" chap - I had not watched that video before, so thanks for the link. Yes, that was unimpressive as I'm not much on frosting/icing/eye-candy/rounding-icons - but I know some people just go nuts over that stuff .

I did like the new window snapping method he showed. Well, I hope there's more to it than what I just saw. Guess we'll find out soon enough next week.
