I am fooling with it as well - in a VM. Has anybody figured out how to "activate" it to turn on systemwide dark mode. It's not something I'm willing to pay more than a few bucks for (especially since the download I got claims to be able to install Windows 11 for Workstations. I might try that on a hard drive for kicks.

Winaero Tweaker (it's free) did it for me.

I suppose this ends one discussion and starts another. This is an upgrade from a USB drive on my Eluktronixa laptop. Guess that might void my warranty but I don't much care. The next step is dual booting with openSUSE Tumbleweed running Gnome 40.

I think windows 10 is dead—no more new builds. IMO, Windows is focused on windows 11 now, going forward!
    Good catch, Magilla!

Not too many days ago I would have thought it was all a big joke, not to be taken seriously.

Just when you think Microsoft couldn't possibly add another major gaffe to its long, long list of "stupid mistakes so dumb a n00b wouldn't make them," then you hear about "Windows 11" which--to me--sounds like the most absolutely stupid and idiotic thing Microsoft has ever done--I mean, this is right up there with Windows 8...! (Following on the heels of Microsoft's best-selling, most popular OS ever, Win7, Microsoft has decided to throw out the baby with the bathwater in Windows 8! Hot dog!")

Bill Gates: "We worked long and hard to find out just what it was that made Win7 the most popular OS release in our history! And now, in Windows 8, we've changed all the great things you loved in 7 and trashed them in 8! Hot dog!"

A few days ago I thought the whole thing was a PR stunt--something to have a little fun with--and to allow Microsoft to underscore why a "Win11 or 12 or 13..." was completely out of the question since Win10 is all anyone will need. Ever.

    Now I'm not so sure:

    https://www.thurrott.com/windows/win...st-impressions

So, my friends still serving with me aboard the ISS Insider 10, what's the verdict?

    A. Is this all a big PR tease, a PR Joke aimed at marketing Win10 with a renewed emphasis? On Win 11 day coming up, will the headline be: Fooled' Ya! Windows 10 is Forever! We just wanted to reassure you.

B.Has Satya started inhaling the Nitrous Oxide again? Well, at least he's off the gasoline.

    C. Or, has Bill Gates merely injected himself with one-too-many experimental CCP-virus RNA vaccines and has he become something else even less human than before?

    D. Or...never mind.

Thurrott even has a build number. 21996.1000. I can think of a few reasons that are nefarious to current retail consumers of Win10 retail licenses! I hope I'm wrong about that! I hope the only thing that will differ between Win10 and Win11 licenses is the name of the WinOS retail license that follows the consumer for life--his life, of course! Or, has Microsoft changed the name simply to renege on the previous license terms for retail Windows 10 licensing?
