    Just for information.

If you want to setup a Folder or Shortcut that displays a List of ALL [ EVERYTHING ] the available Control Panel Items individually [ Commonly known as “God Mode” ], then do the following [ Replace ALL_Tasks with your own Title ] . . .

    To Setup a Folder:

    Right-Click the Desktop > New > Folder > Type [ Copy & Paste ] ALL_Tasks.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} > Enter.

    To Setup a Shortcut:

    Right-Click the Desktop > New Shortcut > Type [ Copy & Paste ] %WinDir%\Explorer.exe Shell:::{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} > Next > Type ALL_Tasks > Finish.

    I hope this helps.

Windows, Windows what went wrong, oh so wrong
We loved your OS for so long
But, I never thought a guy could cry
Your new design just hurts my eyes
Oh, Windows, Windows leave it alone! (hurts so bad!)

Well Control Panel or not I am just that cynical enough to consider the whole issue to be just another way of raising yet more revenue (if it goes to Windows 11) and I would also add that to me (and probably many more folks) with more than just one machine it makes it doubly difficult to follow alongside with Microsoft. I am also sure that that there are many who would simplly be able to afford the OS.
The wheels not broken Microsoft so why try fix it apart from the usual updates.

MS didn't charge for upgrades from Windows 7 or 8 to 10. Do you think they'd charge for the next upgrade? (Not a rhetorical question.)

I have feared that MS might go to a subscription model for Windows, but the cultural break might be too large for them to dare.

Yes bobkn I know we don't get charged for updates but my main concern that they do something like a completely new OS or like you say go to annual subscriptions.

Having said that I would not be opposed to an annual subscription of say $20 per machine (as some do for MS Office for example) what I don't want it to pay $300 or so for a completely different system that mean for a lot of us with a few machines perhaps an added multiple machine cost plus any other software such as security having to be purchased with the OS. For companies it would mean a major outlay I am sure you would agree.

Plus you would also agree that any new system would be loaded with the usual bugs that comes with it.

I have been spared most of the bugs that others have complained about. It's better to be lucky than smart.

If MS can produce a version of Settings that that preserves the functionality of Settings + Control panel, I'll be happy enough, after I've found the new locations of the stuff I need.

Well bobkn I too have been spared a lot of the bugs that others have had my main concern is that is MS just "making up a new system" for purely revenue raising

I too prefer Control Panel, not only because I'm used to it but also because most functions are more detailed. Some functions are also duplicated. They are also mixed some CP items are opened from settings and some from CP open in settings.
A great example of that is file associations where only simplistic changes can now be made from Setttings instead of the former CP method

Subscription as only model would exclude wast majority of the world that either can't pay online or just couldn't afford yet another monthly bill.

We’ll just have to wait and see when it’s released. Before too much doom! Guesses in the media are that it may be a similar thing to Windows 10X - which I had never heard of. But they are just guesses.

I can’t see they’d scrap Windows 10 overnight. They kept 7 going for ages when 10 was released. Gives people time to adjust. They must know there are still a heck of a lot of desktop users.

Also they know people buy used laptops which need a specific operating system.

I don’t think monthly subscription would be good for business- it would put too many people off - myself included. It’s one thing to buy a new laptop and another thing to have to pay a subscription as well!

It may mean a lot more older hardware becoming redundant once Windows 10 ends. Hopefully they would leave 10 at the latest feature update and just keep pushing out security updates for quite a long time.

But if 11 is a major features update to 10 - well that could be tricky. Lifespan on old 10 would be much shorter.

I personally think more laptops than tablets are sold these days. Albeit touch screen laptops. But there are a lot of budget non touch screen laptops still sold. Dell and HP in particular.

Maybe there’ll be some good stuff! Like a new built in imaging program!
