Dunno. Maybe I've gotten set in my (not so middle-aged any longer) views, but mostly I like the Win 10 UI. Is this just change for change's sake? Chasing Apple? Change for its own sake doesn't thrill me any.
Well, yes of course it's "just change for change's sake". I can't think of any reason GUI would have to change.

Yes well Count one wonders in that instance if there were other reasons why they wanted to change the system as 10 seems perfect ok to me as I am not one who worries over what shape icons will be or in the order that they are going to be presented. Perhaps it makes data gathering more easy??
It has certainly wrecked a few peoples views on what Microsoft is doing.

With all those new security measures and requirements, "data gathering" at least from the side of 3rd party and malicious spyware and malware can only be reduced.

True Count but just still think that it also benefits Microsoft in some way.

I don't think so, my machine would confuse heck out of it, 5 SSDs and one HDD with 2 partitions not counting Linux disk it doesn't even know about it.

I expect it gets the info from the registry, so any os letter should be fine.

    paste this into cmd prompt

    reg query "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion" /v PathName
