    Messed up partitiion boot files


    When I start up my Lenovo T420 laptop, I get

    "Your PC/Device needs to be repaired..."
    with an error code of 0xc0000225.

    I've gone down the rabbit hole on Youtube - there are a lot of similar suggestions. None of them work.

    The good news is that I can hit f9 and win 10 ( 20H2) boots up and works just fine.

    So the problem is that it's annoying to not have the laptop working correctly.

    The Samsung SSD is GPT, so I can't use the techniques that would typically fix the MBR (although I've tried!). I'm at a loss as to what to do.

    Does anyone have a good Idea that might work?

    Hi, when a user basically says 'I've tried everything' that is a great way of persuading someone not to attempt an answer - why- because the user then says

    'Tried that'

    So... exactly which of the following have you tried?
    Fix- Error Code 0xc0000225 in Windows 10

    And what else have you tried? Thanks!

    I tried all of these (and just finished retrying each of them)

    Still no joy.

    I've also tried chkdsk /f /r, and SFC /scannow.

    I can't remember if I've done anything else...

    Resetting bios to defaults?
    Assigning the EFI system partition a drive letter and using the bcdboot command to rewrite the BCD?

    Have you been using disk imaging regularly and routinely, as is so, so often recommended here - so users can often recover to a previous good state without technical help?

    E.g. Macrium Reflect (free) + external storage for image files?

    The Macrium boot disk has a useful 'Fixboot' utility.

    Please run that and post a screenshot or photo of the result.

    Also please post a screenshot of your partitions using a 3rd party partition manager (not Disk Management).
    Do you have one marked Active?

    And as a matter of course please check your disk just in case - e.g. Hard Disk Sentinel (trial) - SSDs too- best appraisal I know of right on its GUI, especially as your laptop is from around 2012.

    What may have happened to cause this? Or did it just suddenly occur?

    Macrium Reflect fixed it!
    I had to download the software and create a WinPE boot file on my USB drive, but It easily fixed the problem in one pass.

    Now do make sure you start and maintain a regular routine of disk imaging.. a number of advantages. Set up a Macrium backup job e.g. to a large enough external disk with fixed drive letter
