Have you noticed my post #8 above?
yes but i never had to do that before. like i said before i hit the window ico the shift and the s keys the snip tool shows at the top of the screen i have snip a box selected. then if i was in a folder or a picture folder or on a forum like this i right clicked and pasted it into any of the items i had open at that time. now noting is working. i should not have to do the window icon and r and type in ms paint to get this to work. i know how to do that but the original question is how to get it to save or paste.

like i said before i hit the window icon the shift the s key then the snip tool showed at the top i selected the kind of snip and then i could past it into whatever. so this time i will select the window snip ans see if it save it into the saved pictures folder or the screenshot folder. i will let you know.
    thanks

i just tried a full snip still not working.

where do the screen shots go? when i press the windows key the shift key and the s key i get at the top of the screen a small drop down that lets me pick the type of snip or screenshot. but for the life of me i can't find out where that snip went. sometimes i can past them into messages but if i want to save one on y pc for future reference then i can't find it.
i just tried to sni one of my foscam settings pages and i opened a folder and tried to past it and nothing si i did it again with the folder open and nothing so i opened a picture folder and tried to save in that and nothing. so i found the screenshot folder and nothing is in there. i just tried an ebay snip of a camera so if it show after i save this then it works here, but that same snip did not save in the places i mentioned above.
also i went to users corva seems to be the name windows gave me can't change that for some reason but the screen shot fold is empty.
    any ideas? thanks.

    Hi Bob,

I may not understand exactly what you're doing when this problem occurs. The screenshots are only saved to clipboard history unless you manually save each item after capture.

I use the 'function key' + 'prt screen key' to launch Snip & Sketch and then select the 'save as' icon (upper right) to save the file to my preferred location.

Turn On Use Print Screen Key to Launch Screen Snipping in Windows 10

If I've forgotten where I saved the pic and the Snip & Sketch icon is still on the taskbar, I can maximize the SnS window, click the save as icon again and it will always display the last saved location.

let start over to many people are replying so only one it is getting confusing

how to set up the snip tool so i can snip an item on the screen and save it to my picture folder in the screen shot folder or the saved pictures?

this is what i'm doing now
i have the snip tool in the start then navigat to snip tool then i click mode i have window snip selected.
i know to press the window icon
i know to press the shift key and the s key all at the same time
so lets get past that and how to get that snip save into one of those folders? i know it can be done as i have 100 of them now saved in the saved picture folder, but now none are getting saved.

at the very least i will just do a restore to about a month ago as that is about the date the last one got saved.

for some reason it has stopped saving snips.

Nice car pic. Congrats on sorting things out.

My Grandfather had a Corvair for many years. I believe his was a hardtop though.

If you want help to find any and all files or pics on your PC, I would suggest downloading 'Anything Search' by Void tools. I use the portable version (no install required) and search *.jpg or *.bmp or whatever your interest is. It's much faster than Windows Explorer.
