    File explorer problems

    Hello,
File explorer is no longer working properly. It has always been fine on this PC until latest update [March 9, 2021—KB5000802 (OS Builds 19041.867 and 19042.867)] or [KB4589212: Intel microcode updates for Windows 10, version 2004 and 20H2, and Windows Server, version 2004 and 20H2].

What happens is file explorer hangs - thumbnails are not displayed. Same problem within office 365 programs (browse windows) ending up crashing the programs.

This makes the computer virtually unusable.

I did a SFC/ scannow but no issues were found.

Is there any way to fix this?

    thanks in advance!

Maybe a faulty update. WUs usually create restore points so can you restore back to how it was before?
It will mean that MS pushes the updates back onto your machine but next time it may install correctly.

Another possibility - Are all your drivers up-to-date, including graphics drivers?

You might check to see if you got the associated SSU (see thread below). On another recent thread, different update, the user found the SSU hadn't been delivered. Uninstalled it, reinstalled, solved.

    KB5000802 CU Windows 10 v2004 build 19041.867 and v20H2 19042.867
