I know that you don't want third party software but DigiKam does show aspect ratio but not in column view unless you configure table view.

Thumbnail preview sort by aspect ratio:
Configure to show aspect ratio:
It's a large program so probably overkill just to install it to view/ sort by aspect ratio.
Note
It could be configured to import only the folders of interest.
