Windows File Explorer keeps reseting cursor to top of file display

    Winver 20H2 OS Build 19042.844

A number of months ago, I found that doing file searches was becoming very frustrating. While scrolling through a file of pictures or documents file explorer would give a little shake and then jerk my cursor back to the top of the file display. I looked on line and found a number of suggestions were to "restart file/windows explorer" in Task Manger. Sometimes this worked for a while, some times everything just went away, just unpredictable. I tried restarting the computer. This gave me some relief for about an hour. Some suggested doing a new install. Well I just did that and I'm back with the "shake and jerk" again. Has anyone found a way to fix this problem? By the way, this is accompanied by pauses of the computer, i.e. typing this has been stopped for 2 or 3 seconds and then continuing on.

    Welcome to the Forum.

Sometimes the mouse cursor can behave weird if the surface it's on isn't monochrome, it's irregular or is directly over glass.
    Try a black mouse pad.

This sounds suspiciously like an old problem with the accent color. When the slide show changes, the accent color changes, and Explorer will re-draw the whole screen, which makes the cursor jump to line one of the display. If you have this checked, un-check it and try. You may need to sign off and back on for it to take.

    What's up with that!

When I received your suggestion I wondered what can somthing to do with background colors have to do with windows explorer really messing up my computer. But, I tried it. Found the box checked, unchecked it last night, saw it seemed to be working. This morning worked on various things, found it still seemed to be working, plus, I no longer have the stuttering when doing other things on my computer.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! Give me a couple of days to see how it goes and I'll marked it solved.
