Windows 10 Quick Start Guide@dalchina, the Laptopmag.com article is excellent, thank you. Had not seen that one before. A lot of information, well organized. Great resource as you said.
Added to my Tips database for sure.
There are several ways to modify the default behavior depending on what yiou want.
- File System Folders
- Force all folders to use the Generic FolderType and thus use the Generic template (including removeable drives)
- Keep the various FolderTypes, but modify their default columns to match the Generic template
- Virtual Folders (
LibrariesandSearch Results)
- Set default icon mode to Details, but retain default columns
- Modify columns, sorting, grouping, etc.
All involve registry manipulation, but that can be scripted. So if you can copy & paste code into a PowerShell window, it all or most can be scripted.
