Remove Registry Key

In the registry editor, navigate to the entry you want to delete and delete it.
But save the entry beforehand.

Hold the phone, the entry is still there in regedit.

Just do a reboot and make sure it doesn't... regrow. If it does regrow...then you'll have to find the other locations in the registry where that same 0256... key is and delete them too.

No. Is it still there in CCleaner?

I still have both of those keys too. But the activeX control doesn't show up in CCleaner anymore.

Now after a reboot, regedit opens normally. Before it would open to that bad key, or whatever we wanna call it.

Is the activex thing gone from CCleaner? That's what we were trying to do.
Just run the registry tool in CCleaner. See if that activex/com thing comes back.

I also have those two keys the one with and w/o the }.



Back when I did this, I was trying to get rid of the activex/com thing in CCleaner, which I did.
I still have those keys, just like you do.






The keys don't bother me. The activex thing that CCleaner couldn't remove... is what bothered me.

It doesn`t show up, but that doesn`t mean it`s been deleted either. Just glad it doesn`t show up anymore.

All I wanted to do was get that activex thing to stop showing up in CCleaner. Activex controls are like flash and java... bad juju.

I think we've succeeded.

This is the Way !!

I was able to delete the string on the X299 in less than 10 seconds, consider this issue fixed.... for now

I`m gonna recheck the Z170 and see if it`s still in the registry or if it was deleted too.

Yep the registry key is gone from the Z170 too
