Hi,
Have a look at the HP Pavilion dv6 Maintenance and Service Guide
On page 62&63:
- There are step-by-step instructions including photos showing how to remove the service panel, disconnect and/or remove and replace the HDD. You need to only disconnect the hard drive (don't remove).
- The instructions to remove the Service Panel are on page 60.
- The step-by-step instructions plus photo of how to remove and/or replace are on page 64. You need only remove the battery for a minute or so to reset the BIOS. The battery is located adjacent to the hard drive and looks in a nice place for removal.
Take a look at the manual. Maybe have a peek under the Service Panel. Don't touch anything yet. Just have a look and see whether having the step-by-step instructions plus photos will give you the confidence to proceed. If you don't feel comfortable then that's okay too.
Let us know what you think :)
