    So its just for more usb slots? Nothing extraordinary or essential to my motherboard/pc?

    Once you have it out and have the make/model you'll know for sure what it is.
    My "guess" would be... more USB ports.
    Without the make/model, that's the best I can do.

    Doesn't seem to have a lot going on in regards to a make or model :/

    Well... then see where the other end of those wires go to.
    Page 2-2 in your motherboard manual shows 90% of the motherboard connectors.

    You need to go to the motherboard link I gave you earlier and download the manual (pdf).
    This is what it is called: E8039_P9X79_LE
    Obviously it's the English version.

    /edit

    Here I found it...

    The reason I went and found where to download the manual, is so you would download it, and read it.

    The 2 white connectors on that module are USB. I have no idea what the black connector is for. That module was an optional part... 10 years ago.

    As for the USB module's USB 2.0 ports, you don't really need them. Your motherboard already has some.

    My suggestion is, that you read the manual, THEN ask your questions.
    Part of any "PC adventure" is reading the manual.

    Your part, that is.

    There might not even be connections for it on the board you are putting into your Phantom case.

    I am such a goober, the idea that it might be in relation to the motherboard never even crossed my mind, I thought it was a separate individual piece the builder might have put in or something. My bad, appreciate you going through all the effort.

    Your right in regards to the adventure, I guess I still have ways to go in connecting the dots!.

    I'm definitely getting rid of it, have plenty of USB slots, never even used it.

    @AddRAM

    Yeah I'm just going to remove it, less cable mess and eyesore. :)

    What I meant was that unlike today's motherboard manuals, the manuals for motherboards say... over 5 years old... actually were useful.
    They are 3-4x the size of today's manuals. Reading them would actually explain 95% of what you need to know.

    Just like on any other adventure... having the map (motherboard manual), is the key.

    Connectors? Do you mean the gold metal parts?
    Yes, you can do it with an eraser.

    Maxwell Smart: Ah... the old pencil eraser on the contacts, trick.

    Just make sure it's a "pencil" eraser. I don't know if they still have them, but a ballpoint pen eraser would literally erase the gold contacts from the circuit board.

    But yeah, a pencil eraser works just fine for that.

    Honestly, touching the gold parts in general feels incredibly sketchy with me, i don't want to end up ruining something that is perfectly fine, i don't know much about them but I know they are incredibly sensitive and your not even supposed to touch them with your hands.

    @AddRAM

    lmao, shush you!

    I'm not putting anything onto anything, literally moving all the insides of the dono pc into my phantom case

    QUESTION:

    Edit - I figured I could just plug the drive with windows and the drive with my other files into my new pc and retrieve the files that way, aha.
