Black Screen and drastic increase in fan speed randomly during game

Hi everyone, I recently have had issues with a consistent black screen during a gaming session that is always accompanied by a drastic increase in my fan speeds. My monitor will instantly say, "No Signal", and I can only turn off computer manually. I have the following specs:
    Windows 10 20H2 (OS Build 19042.804)
    CPU: Intel Core i7 9700k
    GPU: NVIDEA GEFORCE GTX 1660
    MBD: ASUS Z390-P
    RAM: XGP DDR4 16GB Dual

I have had all the components since August 2019. I have also tried the following things to correct the issue:
    - Properly confirmed Intel chipset drivers were up-to-date and not corrupted
    - Performed a complete clean of my GPU drivers and installed latest drivers from NVIDEA using the Display Driver Uninstaller from Guru3D

The crash mainly occurs when I am in Overwatch, but it also has happened while sitting in the menu and in other games.

I am unsure how to properly address this issue outside of what I have already done. Has anyone had a similar issue or knows of further steps I can take to identify the issue or stop the crashing? Thanks in advance guys!

Hello @Martianman , welcome to Ten Forums.

I would re-seat the RAM. Loose RAM sticks can easily cause this.
Otherwise, I would try a different monitor cable.

Your graphics card is crashing. It might be caused by heat during gaming. Do you overclock your graphics card? See if you can increase your fan speeds on the card during gaming.

This sounds like the GPU is crashing as another poster said. You also don't mention your power supply. How long have you had the card?

Take a cover off & clean out the dust, put an external fan on & see if it behaves with the extra cooling. Make sure all the fans ( including the power supply ) are spinning fast, with the power off, give them a spin with a matchstick to make sure they are not stuck.

I just had this issue with a PC that has been running fine for years. Changed the bios settings for a faster overclock of my cpu and the issue settled down. I had the black screen but could still hear the sound of a running game in the background so it is likely video related. Still a puzzle. Running WIN 10 with an intel I 6700K with an NVIDIA 1080 TI water cooled.

Yes I think the CPU is under powered too.
