What is internal memory management features?

I read Tuning IBM System x Servers for Performance and I got to a section where it was talking about the file and printer properties and how you modify the memory settings like network applications,file sharing,Ballance and minimize memory used then it brought up the performance properties where we would modify processor scheduling and memory usage. I read that when maximize data through put for network applications is filled in is best for "Better for application servers and those with internal memory management features"


What is internal memory management features?
