For anyone new here, many of us make a full backup of our boot drives before installing the Patch Tuesday CUs - we use Macrium Reflect: Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

Other people use "powercfg /requestsoverride" to override MoUsoCoreWorker - you will see that solution floating around too - which I have chosen to not adopt.

M$ has started downloading/installing Preview updates when I merely checked for Windows Updates manually - I don't think they should be forcing "Preview" updates upon me, they my reason to now pause updates until I'm ready to install them on or after monthly Patch Tuesday after I've made a full MR backup.

I totally agree with that, I hide Previews, I see no point in installing them

Preview updates are Optional, the last 2 have been. Not sure why they are being forced on you.

Preview updates disappear in Windows Update after the CU gets installed, so that`s a good thing.

Wish I knew. Just checking for updates manually made them download and install. Happened to others too. Maybe I should start using WAU Manager (Windows Automatic Updates Manager) like you and others .

M$ is becoming a really shady POS as far as forced preview updates.

My PowerCFG /requests has nothing showing.

I haven't tried that pause Windows Update trick; I'll have to check that out.

If it shows nothing, WU might not help, but worth a try as it's free and painless And do the other stuff I posted (drivers and BIOS) as they affect sleep too.

I have some old PCs too. Pausing WU is necessary on my old and new PCs for them to sleep recently.
