Copying files to Android Tablet (or phone)

I am trying to copy a folder with several files inside DCIM folder of Android destination device.

If I interrupt copy and resume afterwards Windows 10 tells me some files already exist with same name. If I choose not to copy and put a checkmark on "do the same for all instances" copying process ends without copying NOTHING. So destination folder is missing some files (3,7GB out of 4,5GB).

How can I accomplish this task? I have tried Total Commander too but it uses crapola Windows File Explorer so the outcome is the same.

Hmmm... that's interesting. What happens (other than more time) when you let the files be overwritten?

BTW I copy files to and from my Android device (Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and Note 20) to my PC without issue. Never intentionally interrupt the process though and start again. And I simply go through Windows Explorer.

    Good day.

I do not want to overwrite existing files because the copying process takes almost 1h+
I think I am going to give either Robocopy or Xcopy a try.

In any case robocopy is a lot faster than explorer, even if you let it overwrite files, by using the /MIR switch. By default (=without the /MIR switch) robocopy doesn't overwrite files, if they have the same name, size and timestamp [LastWriteTime]).

In your robocopy command don't forget to add the /E switch, to also recurse subdirectories (inc. empty ones)

How much data are you moving for it to take over an hour? I moved over 76gig from my phone's internal storage to an installed 250gig SD card and it took just shy of an hour. I know because I timed it against my SD card reader (which wasn't much better). That said, the SD card in question isn't the fastest in the world, even though both my phones use USB Type-C (USB 3.0) connections.

Anyway, if you think Xcopy or Robocopy would be a better solution use that. File explorer works for me.

    Good luck.

OK. I finally did it with a Total Commander plugin to access tablets and such via MTP.

BTW: Robocopy doesn't support UNC paths so you can't use it in such scenarios.

I'm sorry but this is not true: ROBOCOPY will accept UNC pathnames including long pathnames over 256 characters long.

Good to know but I wasn't able to get a working path.
