Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it onto your Desktop. If your default download location is not your Desktop, drag it out of it's location onto the Desktop.
    Download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool
If we have to run Farbar more than once, refer this SS.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
    Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the Desktop.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt) on the Desktop.
The logs are large, upload them using this. No time delays/Captcha-I'm not a Robot/account/registration needed. Give us the links please.

The ISO that I used for my host system & VM is legitimate. I've even provided a hash value. Doing a search of said hash value online brings up posts on MyDigitalLife, Microsoft Forums & others.

This is a per-user problem, not a machine-wide problem. I created a new local account - "Test" & signed-in to it; "Hide protected operating system files" worked without issues. Then I signed-in to my Microsoft Account, restarted & "Hide protected operating system files" broke.
Showing system files is considered malware like behavior, some antiviruses and maintenance tools block it.
I would try to close all software running in the background and then I would try to change it to see, if it works.

Thank you for the suggestion! I just went into Safe mode & "Hide protected operating system files" WORKED! Defender was disabled in Safe mode. So, something in Normal mode is interfering with Windows Explorer & the "Hide protected operating system files" option.

    Here's a screenshot:

So, I disabled Defender using Defender Control 1.7 (Defender Control v1.7). Unfortunately, the issue wasn't fixed.

I don't see what my BIOS & ISO have to do with this. My BIOS is on the latest version & my ISO is legitimate. Besides, I'm not flashing my BIOS to fix a minuscule issue because BIOS flashing is extremely risky. When Windows breaks, you can reinstall it. When your BIOS breaks, you're out of luck.
